Road Maintenance in Your Area
Road Stud Replacement
A20 London Road, Addington
When we plan to carry out the work and how long it will take
This is to let you know that, as part of the on-going maintenance and improvement of the highway network,
Kent County Council will be working to reinstate the road studs following surfacing at A20 London Road,
Addington between the junctions of B2016 Seven Mile Lane and Ashton Way..
These road stud replacement works are programmed to start on the Wednesday 6th November and should
take up to 3 nights to complete. These activities will be undertaken during a working window between the
hours of 22:00 – 05:00hrs
This type of work can be affected by bad weather, so if it is not possible for us to carry it out at this time, we
will arrange a new date and let you know via a letter drop to your home. We will also put up signs along the
road, before we start, showing the date we plan to start work.
During these essential works it will be necessary to close the road completely so that we can carry out the
works safely for both the workforce and road users. During this closure, a diversion route will be in place via

A227 Wrotham Road, Western Road, Sevenoaks Road, Borough Green Road, The Street, Bates Hill,
A227 Tonbridge Road, A227 Shipbourne Road, A227 High Street, Tonbridge, Bordyke, A26 Hadlow Road,
Cornwallis Avenue, Hadlow Road East, A26 Tonbridge Road, High Street, Hadlow, The Square, A26
Maidstone Road, A26 Tonbridge Road, A228 Malling Road, A228 Ashton Way.
What we plan to do
Following surfacing of the carriageway earlier this year we will be returning to reinstate the road studs. This
will involve the milling of a small section of the carriageway at each point a road stud is required. Studs will
then be reinstated and set into the surface. A short period of time will be required for the material securing
the stud to cure. These works are relatively quick and mobile, and we will work progressively throughout the
road until all studs are reinstated keeping noise and disruption to any one location to an absolute minimum.
How you can help
It is inevitable that residents and businesses near the works will experience some disruption, but we will try
to keep these to a minimum. Any pavements will remain open at all times, but vehicle access to properties
will need to be restricted for a short period while work is carried out in front of each property. If you have any
particular access needs, please let the workforce on site know.
If your vehicle is usually parked on the carriageway, please make sure you park it somewhere else
away from the site whilst the works are carried out, so the road is clear for us to complete these
works activities.
We need your help to make sure the work is done as quickly as possible and to the best possible quality.
